All About BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe
Audi’s A3 and Merc’s CLA haven’t had a rival from BMW ever since they were launched. The entry-level luxury sedan segment now finally has a rival from BMW in the form of the new 2-Series Gran Coupe. The Gran Coupe’s unique in a way, because unlike its larger siblings and coupe cabriolet equivalent, it is front-wheel drive and is built on the ULK platform that is also used for the Mini Cooper range. The brand has launched the model in preparation for the festive season. This is the brand’s first compact, four-door coupe and sits below the 3-Series. The car has been priced at a starting range of ₹ 39.30 for the base Sport Line variant. The car will be sold solely with a diesel engine.
Suave looks
The 2 Series Gran Coupe looks very modern and sexy with the nice kidney grille supplemented by an aggressive-looking front bumper, those distinctive headlights that get double-barrel LED inserts. It looks stylish from the side as well and the swooping roofline gives it the look of a fastback. It features pillar-less doors that further add to its appeal. At the rear, the boot lid is beautifully sculpted and the L-shaped LED tail lights. The car measures 4526mm in length, 1800mm in width, 1420mm in height and a wheelbase of 2670mm. Boot capacity, at 430 litres, is good.Compact luxury
The cabin looks like what you get on most modern BMW cars. The dashboard is beautifully designed and sports a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. The interior is nothing short of luxurious. There is good space at the rear, but very tall occupants will have an issue with headroom due to its coupe-like roofline. The car also comes packed to the brim with features like auto headlamps, cruise control, digital instrument cluster and iDrive touchscreen, paddle shifters, powered front seats, rain-sensing wipers, rear view camera, ABS, traction control and ESC.A few details
The top-of-the-line model gets a chrome-heavy front grille, side skirts, sportier front and rear bumpers, a chrome-finished front grille, M badges on the front fenders and a black treatment on the window line. The M-Sport variant also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, while both variants get twin tailpipes. Inside the car, you will find an M-Sport steering wheel and aluminium pedals. Additionally, it comes with ambient lighting accents, leatherette upholstery.Turbo power
The 2-Series Gran Coupe features a transverse engine and front-wheel drive layout. The model employs a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that produces 187bhp and 400Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car can sprint from 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds. A 2.0-litre, turbo petrol engine is on the cards for a future launch as well. Also, grab the latest info on the new cars, only at autoX.
